Sexy Music

I don't really post much music on here but occasionally I like to do a post of whatever music I happen to be listening to at the time, and I think it's one of those occasions now. So sit down and have a listen to some sexy music.

Shellac - End of Radio

This is one of the best opening tracks to an album I've heard in ages, been really getting into Shellac recently, they kind of remind me of all the things I loved about Tool when I was 14 but more complex and mature.

Ben Benjamin - Squirmy Sign Language
Am a massive fan of pretty much anything released by Ghostly International and have really been loving  For Long Drives and Temporary Diversions their collection of Ben Benjamin tracks. I couldn't really find any of the tracks on youtube so have posted his song from Ghostly Swim here instead.

Arctic Monkeys - She's Thunderstorms
I haven't ever really cared about Arctic Monkeys.  That was until I saw the film Submarine and really enjoyed Alex Turners soundtrack for it so I thought I'd give their new album a go, it's not half bad. A lot of it is still half boring but there are a couple of songs like this, the opening single that I actually really like.

Jordaan Mason and the Horse Museum - Racehorse: Get Married!
It's not often I hear a folk singer who can muster as much passion and intensity as Jeff Mangum but Jordaan Mason is definitely a man up to the challenge.

And to finnish it off one of my favourite music videos for on of my favourite songs.

End of Year Show!

If you're in or around Shoreditch on Tuesday then it's our end of year show at the Victorian Vaults on Great Eastern Street! Have been organizing all of the work that's going in over the last couple of days and it should be one hell of an exhibition.

VHX.tv

I just started using VHX a couple of days ago and I'm already hooked on it. The video above explains what it is but if you can't be bothered to read it it's basically a social video site, you can subscribe to peoples feeds and watch their channels. This doesn't sound that revolutionary, but it's done in a really great way. Not only is the UI really beautiful but it's also very easy to use and there's something really fun about just sitting back and watching all the videos from your tumblr or facebook feed in one go like some oddball tv network. The only thing holding it back is lack of users so if you're reading this go make an account so we can share videos!

you can watch my channel by clicking here.

This Is Tomorrow

Got my hands on a copy of the newspaper made from one of our type briefs today. The brief was to predict what the future of typography. I don't think I ever posted any of the process that went into the piece I put in. So I'll just post the caption we put in the paper to explain it. Will definitely take some proper pictures that aren't on my hideous sofa at some point.

When thinking about what the future of typography would be, we initially found ourselves going down routes that seemed very sci-fi and completely implausible. The more we thought about it the more it seemed that typography hasn't really changed that much in 100 years so why would it change that much in another 100? All that really changes is whats considered cool. So we thought we'd look at cultural trends and found that there is a huge prevalence of 'retro' love in our society today for things like gameboys and records players. Things like that have a very distinct typographic language and we decided we wanted to try and predict what things from our current cultural environment would have this 'retro' cool in 20-30 years. Thus predicting the future of typography.

Second Year is done!

It's been a loooong week getting portfolio and all that Jazz sorted out but it's all done and handed in now which is such a relief. Got some great news as well when I went to hand in as I got one of the price placements and it's with one of my favourite companies, Nobrow! Which is super exciting, if I'm honest it still hasn't 100% sunk in yet...  Also on top of that managed to snag up a ticket to see Jeff Mangum in December which has been my dream since I was like 16 and first heard In The Aeroplane Over The Sea. So yeah am in a stupidly good mood at the moment.
